Juniper Research has just named Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as the most influential executive in the technology space, beating out Apple’s Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive and Netflix Co-Founder and CEO Reed Hastings.
The rankings are based on Juniper’s assessment of key criteria — vision, innovation and personal capital — and note that Nadella’s implementation of “Windows-as-a-Service” represented a fundamental change to Microsoft’s OS-focused business model, resulting in a very different process of development at Redmond in future. Windows-as-a-service has enabled Microsoft to make great strides with Windows 10, including Microsoft’s drive into the holographic space with HoloLens.
Meanwhile, Juniper argued that Ive’s designs for the Apple Watch, including the doodle functionality, NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities, act as a benchmark for the category going forward. Ive has produced very strict guidelines for Apple Watch app design, influenced by the watch’s shape and the glance habit it engenders.
