Windows 10 Update Will Be Available for “All Lumia Windows Phone 8 Devices”

While we wait for Windows 10 for smartphones, something that’s not due until “well into 2015”, we can at least rest comfortably knowing that eventually we’ll get an update on our Lumias.

Microsoft revealed that all Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices would get Windows 10 on Twitter (via):

The wording of the tweet is notable as it’s not referred to as Windows Phone 10, but Windows 10. We previously reported how the “Phone” was dropping from the Windows Phone branding so it’s good to see that Microsoft is being consistent with that here.

It’s also great to see that the same thing that happened to Windows Phone 7.x users won’t be happening again. What do you hope to see in the Windows 10 OS for smartphones? Post your thoughts in the comments section below.

  1. Landscape mode in start screen. Start screen backgrounds.. Live wallpapers. Being able to set one common icon for app folders in start screen. Pin to start for system shortcuts. Arranging them alphabetically. Applist arrange by use. Live tile improvements and action center improvements. USB on the go support. More cortana integration. Yawn.. There’s lots more but I m feeling sleepy
