More Evidence That the “Phone” in “Windows Phone” Will be Dropping

Back on September 11, we first heard that “Windows Phone” would be rebranded to just “Windows” and now there’s more evidence of this gradual change happening with two new commercials.

Watching the commericals (shown below), it quickly becomes obvious with the minor use of the “Phone” name when mentioning “Windows” that the change is starting to occur. The commercials also failed to really differentiate Windows on the Surface from Windows on the smartphone, also signifying the unification of the two operating systems under one banner, something that Microsoft has been striving to do for years.

With the recent leaks of Windows 9 as well as the forthcoming announcement of the new operating system’s debut, it’s possible we could see even more signs of the two platforms becoming one starting next spring.

Both of these videos can be found on Windows Phone’s YouTube page (via). Post your thoughts on the new Windows videos in the comments.
