Trapster, Nokia Trailers Shutting Down by Year’s End

We all remember Trapster, a service that allows you to avoid speed traps using crowdsourced information (if you don’t, you can relive some of the glory days with some Windows Mobile love).

Now that Waze and other apps are on the scene, Trapster has announced that it will be shutting its doors by the end of the year.

This email was sent from the Trapster team to its users (via):

“After evaluating our ongoing investments, we have decided to discontinue the Trapster service by the end of the year.”

“It is hard to imagine saying goodbye after 7 years but we want to thank you for using Trapster and your loyalty to the Trapster community.”

“Thank you, Team Trapster”

That’s not the only closure we have to report today either. Microsoft has sent out an email to all of us who use Nokia Trailers to announce that it, too, will be puttering off into app oblivion, never to return. This makes Nokia Trailers the latest victim in Microsoft’s continuing efforts to rebrand and restructure.

Nokia Trailers allowed you to view, download, and share film trailers and teasers for new movies and also provided directions to movie theaters nearby. I stopped using this app months ago in favor of Flixster personally, but post in the comments below if you’re still using Nokia Trailers.
