Microsoft Hints at Minecraft Support for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1

Microsoft isn’t just making changes to Windows Phone, it’s also making changes resulting from its acquisition of Minecraft developer Mojang.

Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox department at Microsoft, recently hinted at better support for Windows 8 and Windows Phone compatibility when he was asked, “would you promise to bring Minecraft to your own platforms/devices (Win8.1 Surface / WP8.1 L1520)?” by a Twitter user, to which he responded “Yes.”

This means we could be seeing touch enhancements in MineCraft PC Edition rather than requiring a keyboard to fundtion. In addition, we could also see Minecraft finally make an appearance in the Windows Phone Store, something that’s been rumored for quite some time.

While we might have to wait some time for an official announcement, it’s nevertheless a very good sign of things to come, and should make playing Minecraft games on Windows Phone, Windows 8.1, and the upcoming Windows 9 more enjoyable.

Thanks Zack for the tip!
