LINE Acquires MixRadio Music Service from Microsoft

LINE and Microsoft decided to surprise the technology world this morning with the announcement that LINE has purchased MixRadio service from Microsoft.

Microsoft, which announced the news this morning, said the deal is expected to be completed by “early 2015”.

Jyrki Rosenberg, Head of MixRadio, comments:

“We wanted MixRadio to continue to operate with a commitment to constant innovation and aspiration to deliver the best possible mobile-first experience to listeners. LINE share this vision and our passion for simple, personal and fun user experiences in every way”.

The team behind MixRadio will apparently be staying in Bristol, UK and “will continue to deliver a great service for listeners and with the support of LINE begin to expand the service to even more music lovers worldwide.” Rosenberg also says that “MixRadio fans can expect the same level of commitment to bring a personalised music experience to Lumia smartphones…”.
