Check Out the New 1800Pocket/PC App, Now Available in the Windows Phone Store

When I came on board to revamp 1800Pocket/PC, one of the things that needed a little reworking was the official 1800Pocket/PC app. Fortunately the developer of the original app Cris Rowlands was willing to continue working on the app.

For the first time in over a year, a new update to 1800Pocket/PC for Windows Phone is now available in the Windows Phone Store.

Users of the old version will notice quite a few changes. For starters, there is no longer a Wallpapers section in the app as the site has changed focus to covering Windows Phone, tablet, and PC software. You can gain Achievements just by using the app as you can see in the screenshot above.

This first update, version 4.5.0.0, is the first of many and is just the beginning. The new update was meant to fix breaks caused by changes in the website that occurred even before I came on board. The app will soon be available on PC and tablets as well, in addition to new features for Windows Phone 8.1.

So check out the new 1800Pocket/PC app and please feel free to post some suggestions or thoughts on the new app in the comments below. You can download 1800Pocket/PC using the QR code in this article.

  2. I uninstalled the old app. What kept me interested in the app was the Wallpaper section. I had no use for the app without it.

I’m going to give this one a go and see how it goes.

    • Hi Stefano!

Wallpapers will be returning to the site, though it will no longer be part of the news coverage. Instead, I’ll be devoting an entire section of the upcoming forums so people can post links and images of wallpapers from around the web. :)

I’ll be looking for to it.
Sad that it won’t be part of the app, as, through the app, I could download it directly onto my phone and it was an easier process. However, through your website, it gets a bit complicated when accessing through my phone.

But thanks in advance for returning the Wallpaper section!

        • No problem! :)

I’ll see what we can do about making the wallpapers a part of the app when the forums launch. There is a “download picture” achievement built into the app, and I think that would work with the wallpaper section perfectly. :)
