Pin 1800Pocket/PC to Your Windows, Windows Phone Start Screen for a Full Live Tile Experience

It can get tedious to type in the web addresses of your favorite sites, so naturally, you can create a bookmark to avoid that. Even better than a bookmark, though, is a full Live Tile for Windows Phone and Windows 8 / 8.1 that gives you real time updates on new articles. This is exactly what you can get by pinning 1800PocketPC.com to your Start Screen!

First and foremost, make sure you access the site via the Metro/Modern version of Internet Explorer. It will only create a static icon if you do it via the desktop version. With Windows Phone, IE is naturally built to do this.

Next, it’s recommended that you navigate to the 1800PocketPC.com home page. It will work from any page of the site, but the home page is recommended for quicker access (unless of course there’s a particular article you like that you’d like to use instead).

On Windows 8/8.1, tap or click the Favorites icon (star icon) and then select the Pin icon. This will bring up a preview of the Live Tile. Select Pin to Start. Now you can move it around and resize it just like any native app. The Windows 8/8.1 tile comes in small, medium, wide, and large sizes.

On Windows Phone, simply tap Pin to Start after bringing up the Menu

  2. Love it, and the mobile site works great. No sound notifications though, so an app would be better imo

  3. If your stuck with IE Desktop version, and cant find Metro IE, simply click search, defaults, set IE to have ALL its defaults enabled. no need to restart, just hit IE from Metro Start.
